The Human Touch

Making Art | Leaving Traces

Primal energy

All my work is simple. I like the primal energy of just handprints or fingerprints. It's like cave painting

Richard Long first started using mud in his work in 1969, drawn to the directness of the material. This print relates to a series of works that use mud collected from the River Avon. This vastly enlarged version is a relatable, larger-than-life statement of the very human desire to make a mark.
